Winter can be a challenging time to keep ourselves healthy and safe, especially as the outside conditions become more and more hazardous. Using the right products to mitigate winter conditions is the best defense to potentially harsh weather conditions inside and outside of facilities. Doing so can reduce the number of slip and fall accidents for Canadians, which on average results in 40,000 injuries per year.
Products, such as ice melt, winter matting and proper outdoor winter maintenance equipment can make all the difference in preventing slip and fall accidents. David L. Smith, the Cleaning, Hygiene & Sanitation Director for Bunzl Cleaning & Hygiene discusses this important topic in the Fall 2023 edition of Facility Cleaning & Maintenance Magazine, explaining that ignoring the proper winter measures and procedures can result in hazardous conditions for customers and occupants. By using the appropriate measures and equipment, safety is greatly improved for customers, occupants and staff.
